Honu Split
Two Worlds, One Turtle
Honu Split Wall Art | Over-Under Sea Turtle Photography, Hawaii
What Makes This Photo So Special?
The split shot — half above the surface, half below — is one of the hardest in underwater photography. You need a calm surface, a cooperative subject, and perfect timing. This honu cruised right under my dome port just as the water went glass, giving me both worlds at once: the world above, all sky and light, and the world below, all blue and turtle.
Over-under images reveal what the turtle sees — the boundary between our world and theirs, in a single frame.
The Hardest Shot: Split photography demands calm water and luck in equal measure.
Two Worlds: Sky above, reef below, turtle bridging both.
Glass Surface: The waterline is razor-sharp — conditions were perfect.
Bring both worlds home — it's the turtle's-eye view.
